The brand new “Aviator” hotel is a very smart venue both inside and out. It is owned and run by Dakota Hotels. It has only been open since the Summer, just in time for the 2008 Air Show and has already played host to a number of famous people, recently our new Formula One Champion, Lewis Hamilton spent time there along with a number of other F1 luminaries for a private party.
Its location is perfect, just on top of the Airfield an ideal place for high-flyers (pardon the pun) to pitch up for the night, to enjoy some of the dining there. I have heard that the drinks menu is 20 pages in length and that the choice is excellent. It’s not a cheap Hotel to stay in or dine at, after all its target clientele are in the main, business men and women from all over the globe who are passing through Farnborough.
Is it a sign of what is to come? Is Farnborough aiming to put itself more firmly on the map?
I took this shot from across the road using my 70-200 f2.8 Sigma lens attached to my D200. I also used a tripod and cable release. The exposure settings were f22 at 30 seconds, ISO 100.
Have I ever been inside the Aviator? – No not yet!
