Winchester is packed with historic delights and St Swithuns church is a jewel in its crown.
Down St Swithuns Street you will find this amazing church that bears the same name. Blink and you’ll miss it for at a first glance it doesn’t look like a church at all. If you have visited Winchester before chances are you may have walked underneath it many times and never realised. Did I say walk underneath it? Yes, I did for St Swithuns is built into a walkway that reaches over the top of a small street. The entrance to the church is located on the corner of this street and leads you into this fantastically compact chapel. If you visit at a certain time of day, you will be rewarded with wonderful light pouring in through the ancient stained glass windows.
